Aircraft Hangar FAQs
Is aviation fuel available at Jake Arner Memorial Airport?
Yes, the airport provides 24/7 self-service fueling for both 100LL Avgas and Jet A. Pilots can access fuel pumps any time, making the airport a convenient stop for both local and transient aircraft. The fuel farm was recently upgraded with a 12,000-gallon Jet A tank to improve capacity and reliability. Competitive fuel pricing and easy access make it a favored location for private pilots and flight schools.
How is the airport funded and maintained?
The Carbon County Airport Authority receives a majority of its funding through federal (FAA) and state (PennDOT) aviation grants. These funds are used for capital improvement projects such as runway lighting upgrades, pavement crack sealing, hangar construction, and fuel system modernization. The majority of the funds used for airport operations come from hangar and office leases and the sale of aviation fuel. The Authority works hard to ensure the airport meets current safety and infrastructure standards, supporting long-term growth in general aviation for the region.
How many aircraft use this airport annually?
Jake Arner Memorial Airport sees an estimated 12,000 aircraft operations per year, including takeoffs and landings. The airport is home to about 38 based aircraft, ranging from small private planes to twin-engine aircraft and a St. Luke’s Hospital Emergency Medical Helicopter. Its steady traffic volume reflects its importance as a regional general aviation hub in northeastern Pennsylvania.
